Walk It! 2017
Guidelines for Team Captain:

1. Sign up your team members (1-6 per team)

2. Give your team members a copy of the tracker sheet so they can easily track their individual miles.

3. Determine how your team members will turn in their miles to you: e-mail, phone, etc.

4. Set aside a time to e-mail or fax in your team’s miles on Tuesdays to Heartland Family Chiropractic.

Turn in the total miles for your team by
Tuesdays at noon fax: 839-3533 or email to
hfcinfo2009@gmail.com
Miles not reported by this deadline will result in a zero for the week.

5. Have fun! Walking, jogging, walking your dog, or running count as miles “walked.” We encourage all forms of fitness, however, for this program; we are emphasizing the simple act of walking. Children are encouraged to participate.

**You do not need to walk together as a team, just log miles as a team.

We will take your total miles walked and divide it by the number of members on your team. Weekly results will be posted on Heartland Family Chiropractic’s website and on facebook. Please encourage all team members to “like” our page on facebook to remain updated on the event. Winners will be announced June 5th at the Walk It Wrap-Up and will be published in the Herald Independent!

Deadline to Register: April 18th (Deadline to receive a T-Shirt!)
Walking Begins: May 1st
Shirt Pick-Up: Week of May 1st - 4th

Guidelines:

  • Walking, running, and biking count toward miles (While we encourage all forms of fitness-they do not count toward Walk It! miles)
  • Miles ran and biked need to be converted to "walking miles". (2 miles ran = 1 mile walked and 10 miles biked = 1 mile walked)
  • You do not have to walk as a team. Total miles for each member are logged
  • Walking about 20 minutes = 1 mile
  • Miles run/walked in sports do not count toward mileage
  • Walking on the job (wearing a pedometer) does not count (Remember, we’re encouraging extra walking! While we encourage you to take extra steps at work, park further away, stairs versus elevator, etc. please do so for your health!)
  • Walk It! Uses the Honor system = if there is cheating on miles, no one wins.

Cost:

$20 per person - All proceeds will be donated to "4 Miles for Cade" - A Cottage Grove child with PWS (Prader Willi Syndrome).

Tips:

Schedule time to walk: morning, after work, evening, lunch

Short walks are better than no walks at all

Enjoy the time for yourself, to talk with a friend, or to enjoy nature.

Why do we host Walk It!?

Because we care about health. Some may think that chiropractors are “back doctors” who only see people with back pain. Chiropractors, however, are concerned about your overall health because we work with your nervous system which controls your whole body. Read more about chiropractic at www.heartlandfamilychiropractic.com and share it with your team members and remember to “like” our page on facebook for updates and health tips!
